The wedding ceremony continued into the evening at the traditional wedding venue.
…It was now time for kanyadaan. As the loving father poured water through her hand and gave away his precious daughter to her soulmate, there was not a single dry eye in the room. The bride and the groom then sat next to each other in front of the holy fire, and while the priest chanted the holy mantras the couple offered prayers to Lord Agni and sought his blessings for a blissful marital life. The priest placed the bride’s right hand on that of the groom’s and tied her dupatta to his, as he performed the hastamilap ritual, symbolizing the unbreakable bond between the two soulmates. Thereupon, the bride and groom walked around the agni kund during the saat phere and took their seven sacred marital vows and exchanged rings and garlands. The couple then stood together in front of their well-wishers and family members and sought their blessings as they entered the bond of holy matrimony. Finally, it was time for the sindoor daan. The bride and the groom were covered under a cloth while he tied the mangalsutra on her neck and adorned her forehead with a sindoor thus sealing their bond for eternity. The family and friends showered flowers and akshat on the newlyweds blessing them for the journey they were about to embark together, and our Atlanta wedding photographers managed to capture every single, precious moment of this beautiful ceremony, which saw these two soul mates take their first step towards forever.
As a final act to end what was, in fact, an unforgettable day, the newlyweds posed joyfully as our wedding photographers’ cameras caught them gazing lovingly at each other, to create memories of a lifetime.
